The valve is designed in accordance with the dimensional and application requirements associated with API 526, which is widely used for standardized flanged steel pressure relief valves in the petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, and process industries. The safety valve operates using a direct spring-loaded mechanism, in which the process pressure acts on the valve disc while a calibrated spring provides the closing force. During normal operation, the spring keeps the disc securely seated; when the system pressure reaches the specified set pressure, the disc lifts and the valve releases excess steam, gas, vapor, or liquid to prevent the protected equipment from exceeding its allowable pressure. After the pressure decreases to the appropriate reseating pressure, the valve closes again and restores the system to normal operation.
