MEASURING PRINCIPLE

The OPTIWAVE 1520 uses Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar. The transmitter continuously emits microwave signals toward the material surface and receives the reflected signal. The frequency difference between the transmitted and received signals is used to determine the distance to the product surface. From this distance, the instrument calculates the level and, when configured, volume or flow rate.

80 GHz RADAR TECHNOLOGY

The 80 GHz radar frequency provides a focused beam and relatively small antenna, making the OPTIWAVE 1520 suitable for small or confined tanks. Its 8° beam angle helps reduce interference from tank walls and internal obstructions when properly installed.

PVDF LENS ANTENNA

The transmitter uses a flush-mounted PVDF lens antenna, DN40 / 1½”. The flush design helps make the instrument compact and suitable for installations where space is limited. PVDF also provides good chemical resistance for many industrial and water/wastewater applications.
