It protects the tank from excessive internal pressure and vacuum conditions by automatically releasing or admitting gas when the internal pressure reaches the predetermined set points.

The valve provides two main protection functions:

1. Pressure Relief
When the internal tank pressure rises above the preset pressure set point, the pressure pallet opens automatically to release excess vapor or gas, preventing overpressure and potential tank damage.

2. Vacuum Relief
When the internal tank pressure falls below the preset vacuum set point, such as during liquid withdrawal, cooling, or vapor condensation, the vacuum pallet opens automatically to allow air or inert gas into the tank, preventing excessive vacuum and tank collapse or deformation.
