The 5302 is specifically configured for level and interface measurement, making it suitable for applications such as oil/water separation and other liquids with significantly different dielectric constants.

Measuring Principle

The transmitter sends a high-frequency radar pulse down a probe installed inside the vessel. When the pulse reaches a change in dielectric constant at the product surface, part of the signal is reflected back to the transmitter.

The electronics calculate the time between the transmitted and reflected signal to determine the distance to the product surface. The transmitter can also identify the interface between two immiscible liquids.

Basic measurement:

Tank Reference → Product Surface → Liquid Interface → Probe End

This technology provides reliable measurement even when conditions include foam, vapor, turbulence, or changing process conditions.
