The P5300 utilizes an integrally mounted pilot system that provides sensitive pressure control and allows the main valve to respond automatically to changes in upstream pressure. When the upstream pressure increases above the pilot set point, the pilot causes the main valve to open, allowing additional flow downstream and reducing upstream pressure. When upstream pressure decreases toward the set point, the regulator modulates toward the closed position to maintain the desired pressure.
Operating Principle
The P5300 operates by sensing the pressure upstream of the regulator.
- Upstream pressure below set point
The main valve remains relatively closed, restricting downstream flow and allowing upstream pressure to build. - Upstream pressure reaches set point
The integral pilot responds to the pressure signal and begins modulating the main valve. - Upstream pressure increases above set point
The pilot increases the opening of the main valve, allowing more medium to pass downstream. - Upstream pressure decreases
The pilot reduces the main valve opening, maintaining the upstream pressure close to the preset value.
The result is automatic and continuous upstream pressure regulation without requiring an external control system.
Construction
The P5300 is constructed as a globe-style pilot-operated regulator. The regulator can be configured with different port sizes and connection arrangements to accommodate the required flow capacity and installation requirements.
