The MC-III Plus EXP features a large LCD display that simultaneously shows an 8-digit accumulated total volume and a 6-digit instantaneous flow rate, allowing operators to monitor process conditions at a glance. The analyzer supports multiple engineering units, including barrels (BBL), gallons (GAL), liters (LIT), cubic feet (CF), and cubic meters (m³), with configurable rate units per second, minute, hour, or day.
Designed for hazardous locations, the instrument is certified for Class I, Division 1, Groups B, C, and D environments and is housed in a rugged Type 4 (NEMA 4X equivalent) explosion-proof enclosure. The unit can operate using an internal 3.6 VDC lithium battery, an alkaline battery pack, or an external 6–30 VDC power supply with automatic battery backup. Typical battery life is approximately two years under normal operating conditions.
One of the major advantages of the MC-III Plus EXP is its advanced communication and data logging capability. The analyzer supports RS-485 Modbus RTU communication, allowing integration with SCADA, PLC, and telemetry systems. It can store up to 384 daily flow logs, 768 hourly logs, and hundreds of event records in non-volatile memory, enabling users to retrieve historical process data quickly for reporting and analysis. Enron Modbus compatibility is also provided for standard oil and gas industry applications.
The instrument includes several configurable outputs, such as a 4–20 mA analog output, volumetric pulse output, and flowmeter frequency (Amp & Square) output. An optional explosion-proof reset switch allows operators to reset accumulated totals and view daily logs without opening the enclosure, enhancing safety in hazardous areas. Password-protected security prevents unauthorized changes to calibration and operating parameters.
